What is Acrostic Poetry?

One of the styles of poetry that Tony Haynes is famous for is called “acrostic.” An acrostic (Greek: ákros “top”; stíchos “verse”) is a poem or other form of writing in which the first letter, syllable or word of each line, paragraph or other recurring feature in the text spells out a word or a message. (Wikipedia)

Tony Haynes takes this form of writing poetry to an even higher level by having you give him a word and writing the acrostic poem from the letters of that word … right before your eyes! Literally, by the time you write down the words that he is speaking, the entire poem has been written.

To say that this is amazing is a vast understatement. You have to see it happen in order to fully wrap your mind around it. Stay tuned … you just might get your chance!
