“The Sensation Of Your Kiss”

N
eeding the sensation

Of Your kiss
Was the spark that sparked all this

I’d been blessed but felt no bliss
More or less my mind was made up – to only just exist

But being lost in the sensation of your kiss
Exposed what I had missed
Though it was always at my fingertips
The touching of our lips
Enabled me to come to grips – with the passion in our midst
Receive your love, give you love…

…And now my tender heart insists
I live for the sensation of your kiss

“The Rhythm Of A Better Life”

I am without borders
Still within a trebled clef caused by this strife
Of living acapella
Lusting for the rhythm of a better life
As music seeks to strike a chord within my spirit
There is no major way for me to hear it
In isolation, how do I with my syncopated instrument
Orchestrate a sense of harmony
Not as one isolated incident…
…But as one with song that’s learned to dance with me

I Don’t Know The Meaning Of “I Surrender”

27 Friday Apr 2012

I refuse to be dissuaded
Deterred or denied
The shelter & comforts
Of the other side

You can attempt to block me
From all its shimmering splendor
But I don’t know the meaning
Of I surrender

What is this?
What does it mean?
Rolling off my tongue
It sounds obscene

I have not relayed it
Nor is it referenced on my ride
No matter how bumpy the road gets
Or tumultuous the tide

Your steely contempt may rock me
I am a contender
I don’t know the meaning
Of I surrender

Passionately I have played it
Without brakes applied
My soul has been my compass
My heart has been my guide

They are exempt when life knocks me
Away from my defender
I don’t know the meaning
Of I surrender

I will move on till I’ve made it
Through the hurt that haunts my stride
Safely to the haven
On the other side

“What Difference Can I Make?”

15 Sunday Jan 2012

” … All The Difference In The World.”

I‘m just one person, one single solitary soul

Categorized
As the least of your worries
No rush, no hurries

Made out to be a scapegoat
And in my category
Know this, if you know nothing
Else

Always know the story I tell myself

Dating back to way back then, when
I asked the sky, what difference can I make?
Feeling smaller than a snowflake
For I was just one person, one single solitary soul
Energetic, but the
Runt of the litter
E-flat transmitter
No doubt a little eighth note
Convinced I could create hope, I became the
Evidence of one soul in solidarity with changes swirled

… What difference did it make?
All the difference in the world.

“Let Me Tell You This”

Editor’s Note: When my sister passed away after a brief illness last September, I was devastated. Tony Haynes wrote this poem and sent it to me. The acrostic is my sister’s name (Lenora Speller) and the poem is written from her perspective. I’m publishing it because it is beautiful, and it makes me feel better as I continue to deal with this terrible loss. I thought that someone else might benefit from it, too.

L et me tell you this
E verlasting life is bliss
N othing can compare to
O ur days in the air to
R evel in glory with our Lord
And receive a life’s reward

S o let me tell you this
P eacefully I send a kiss
E xtending out my heart to
L ove you though apart through
L ife & afterlife but way up here
E very thing is oh, so clear
R est assured I’m always near …

… And I’ll always hear you
Our special bond it will exist
Now until forever, it is true I tell you this.

Now Dancing with the Angels

“You Are the Four Seasons Of My Life”

18 Sunday Dec 2011

Y
ou are the four seasons
Of my life
Ultimate summer, fall, winter & spring
Reason I look for a glimmer of good
Embodied in what tomorrow may bring

As seasons change the concept is clear
Love goes in cycles while faithfully here
Love blossoms, it withers, sheds light to renew

4 Seasons and love are abundant in you

Sometimes it gets heated we snuggle we’re cold
Energy depleted we struggle on hold
And sometimes we greet it with smothered intent
Still how we treat it no
Other was meant
No further I went than my reasons led to
So my four seasons in life are …

…Resoundingly you

I Could Get Used To This

25 Friday Nov 2011

You must have arranged for birds to flutter
Outside my window
Under a crescent moonlight singing their song

Seduced by what I heard, I close my eyes & hum along
Perhaps you asked the sunlight to shine above me
One day to the next to show you love me
I imagine it was you who planted such a
Lush garden amidst the rolling hills
Each day out in the
Distance I picture me running through the daffodils

My perceptive heart is thrilled
Enjoying a moment’s notice from a dove’s eye view…

…I could get used to this
I could get so used to being loved by you
