I gaze at you and the stars
I wonder why they don’t compare
You shine brighter than they are
You make me need you more than air

I breathe you in
Exhale you out
Receive you when
The rose buds sprout

All at once I softly sigh
You smiled again and caught my eye
Silly me what could I do?
I found sweet words and wrote a few

“A Net To Catch My Soul”

07 Saturday Apr 2012

My life is a series of relationships
It queries at my fingertips
Life is always clearly in salvation’s grip
Even if I slip and it
Swallows me whole
There is a net to catch my soul
One not weary in the theory of relativity
Nor eerie in the sphere of its proclivity
Ever cheery when it’s near me in its starring role
Should I fall there’s a net…

…To catch my soul

A Fatal Flaw In The Logic of Love

06 Monday Feb 2012

There is a fatal flaw
In the logic of love
It rears its ugly claw
And kills it
By not seeing what I saw
As the logical thing
That takes a broken heart
And heals it
We are a fatality
Not just tears have been shed
A sharp tongue craves our blood
And spills it
And the memories gnaw
On whatever’s undead
As the need to withdraw
Fulfills it
This love could have lasted forever
If you only thought differently
You brought your past into our present
And by doing so you overlooked a different me
You loved me but you couldn’t differentiate
Someone you love from someone you hate
And this fatal flaw
In the logic of love
Its touch can never thaw
It chills it
Against natural law
Its illogical cling
Damages the hand
Life deals it
Neither kings nor principalities
Dare reverse its decree
Once it wields what it wields
When it wields it
Two people in awe
Feel the death of their glee
And pray the next lifetime
Rebuilds it

“Change Your Train of Thought”

30 Monday Jan 2012

Tags

Decide to change your train of thought
Out of what is ordinarily Influential on a one-track-mind

It has kept you chugging down a line
Nine times out of nine
Contrarily conceived
Ride an out-of-the-box car
Emotionally loco-motive and not necessarily naive
Decide to change your train of thought
It is you – you are the conductor
But it is primarily believed
Life & death have made you a passenger in an
Environment that derails you from engine to caboose

To re-train how you treat your precious cargo
Here is where you turn you loose
In a perpetual
New perspective primarily perceived
Golden at all stations where higher consciousness is stored
So at the crossroads toward your destination …

… You’ll let body, mind & soul get on board

Fit It Into Your Schedule

21 Monday Nov 2011

Tags

F
it it into your schedule
I would love
To feel your love

It has eluded me for some time now
This love

It is beneficial to me emotionally
Nothing would be as comprehensive
Than for me to appear as anything else
Other than mean & offensive

Your love
Offers integrity an added bonus
Under which it thrives
Reaping a harvest indelibly known as…

…Living with love in our lives

So fit me into your schedule
Caress me with
Hands that
Evoke my
Dreams of -
Undying
Luster
Emanating from…

…You going to extremes with your love

Hurricane You

16 Wednesday Nov 2011

Tags

Art, Facebook, hurricane, Life, Love, Maya Angelou, News, Poetry, Romance, Tony Haynes

How can you rush in emphatically?
Usher in change so dramatically
Room for me to breathe is pushed aside
Room for me to leave is shushed, denied
I’m getting flushed in my own inadequacy
Crushed in arrangements uncomfortably
And so my grief has doused true love
No more belief
Espoused through love

You were brief
One thief in the night
Unleashed who can restrain you enough to drain you?

…There’s no complete relief in sight
From hurt & pain due
Caused by hurricane you

E xpressing every hope that

S ee it for themselves

L ike I saw it not so long ago
I want to save you from the

The Pursuit of Happiness

03 Thursday Nov 2011

H ow do we cover a trail of tears?
A nd recover what was lost?
P ositive people nor do their peers
P ut a price on what happiness costs
I won’t retrace the tortured steps
N or the fatal flights we flew
E ntanglements dangled the nights we wept
S till what else can we do?
S urvivors yes we are – you have me & I have you …

… But what’s eluded us thus far – is the happiness we pursue
This might seem a bit bizarre – but I feel it coming
Don’t you?
