“You Mean The World To Me”

I may never get the chance again
I may as well not hold it in
You mean the world to me

I may not get to tell it all
I may suffer from withdrawals
When we roll separately

You mean the world to me

More than I’ve conveyed
More than I’ve displayed
More than any frequency

You mean the world to me

And in case this is my final call
And I lose my wherewithal
Just know eternally
You mean the world to me

unexpectedly (I Got A Blessing Today)

04 Friday May 2012

Arriving unexpectedly
In God’s perfect timing
I got a blessing today

It protected me
While I was mountain climbing
And stressing today

Bills were mounting up
And I was heading for the hills
All morning counting up
More & more bills
Past due down to my last, ooh…
No new legal & tender
For the landlord, utilities or groceries
No flying eagle for my local vendors

Well, I didn’t win the lottery
But I can still boast
I did get what I needed most

A boost from my Creator who connected me
With FAITH the Motivator unexpectedly
It’s God that I’m indebted to

And I’m confessing today
What FAITH Does I will let it do
I got a blessing today
And some spiritual credit too

“my SECOND skin”

30 Monday Apr 2012

Tags

Acrostic, Facebook, Maya Angelou, Music, Poetry, Religion and Spirituality, Tony Haynes, Twitter, Writing

You are my second skin
One with me – we mesh
Underneath the soul within

…Far beyond where there is flesh

And you are my next of kin
Rarest of the rare –
Extent of your loss, what then?

…More than my heart could bear

My second skin and my first love
You’re what I thirst love in the inner me…

…And my burst of higher energy

Savoring you protects me when
Earnest devotion begins to believe
Companionship is rejecting a friend – I grieve
Once emotion is worn on my sleeve
Not that you’d abandon ship of this I can be sure
Destiny stitched the layers weaved…

…There is nothing about us impure

So in this context we blend
Kindred spirits through & through
I see you as my second skin
Notably thicker to insulate me from a colder view…

…You breathe in me a warm second wind
And blow me away by you just being you

I Don’t Know The Meaning Of “I Surrender”

27 Friday Apr 2012

I refuse to be dissuaded
Deterred or denied
The shelter & comforts
Of the other side

You can attempt to block me
From all its shimmering splendor
But I don’t know the meaning
Of I surrender

What is this?
What does it mean?
Rolling off my tongue
It sounds obscene

I have not relayed it
Nor is it referenced on my ride
No matter how bumpy the road gets
Or tumultuous the tide

Your steely contempt may rock me
I am a contender
I don’t know the meaning
Of I surrender

Passionately I have played it
Without brakes applied
My soul has been my compass
My heart has been my guide

They are exempt when life knocks me
Away from my defender
I don’t know the meaning
Of I surrender

I will move on till I’ve made it
Through the hurt that haunts my stride
Safely to the haven
On the other side

“A Net To Catch My Soul”

07 Saturday Apr 2012

My life is a series of relationships
It queries at my fingertips
Life is always clearly in salvation’s grip
Even if I slip and it
Swallows me whole
There is a net to catch my soul
One not weary in the theory of relativity
Nor eerie in the sphere of its proclivity
Ever cheery when it’s near me in its starring role
Should I fall there’s a net…

…To catch my soul

T here was an angel in my life
O ne I could find myself forever kissing
N ow the only question left for me to ask is …

… Does heaven know you’re missing?

“Change Your Train of Thought”

30 Monday Jan 2012

Tags

Decide to change your train of thought
Out of what is ordinarily Influential on a one-track-mind

It has kept you chugging down a line
Nine times out of nine
Contrarily conceived
Ride an out-of-the-box car
Emotionally loco-motive and not necessarily naive
Decide to change your train of thought
It is you – you are the conductor
But it is primarily believed
Life & death have made you a passenger in an
Environment that derails you from engine to caboose

To re-train how you treat your precious cargo
Here is where you turn you loose
In a perpetual
New perspective primarily perceived
Golden at all stations where higher consciousness is stored
So at the crossroads toward your destination …

… You’ll let body, mind & soul get on board

“Let Me Tell You This”

09 Monday Jan 2012

Editor’s Note: When my sister passed away after a brief illness last September, I was devastated. Tony Haynes wrote this poem and sent it to me. The acrostic is my sister’s name (Lenora Speller) and the poem is written from her perspective. I’m publishing it because it is beautiful, and it makes me feel better as I continue to deal with this terrible loss. I thought that someone else might benefit from it, too.

L et me tell you this
E verlasting life is bliss
N othing can compare to
O ur days in the air to
R evel in glory with our Lord
And receive a life’s reward

S o let me tell you this
P eacefully I send a kiss
E xtending out my heart to
L ove you though apart through
L ife & afterlife but way up here
E very thing is oh, so clear
R est assured I’m always near …

… And I’ll always hear you
Our special bond it will exist
Now until forever, it is true I tell you this.

Now Dancing with the Angels

“You Are the Four Seasons Of My Life”

18 Sunday Dec 2011

Tags

Arts, Four Seasons, God, Online Writing, Poetry, Relationships, Romance, Shopping

Y
ou are the four seasons
Of my life
Ultimate summer, fall, winter & spring
Reason I look for a glimmer of good
Embodied in what tomorrow may bring

As seasons change the concept is clear
Love goes in cycles while faithfully here
Love blossoms, it withers, sheds light to renew

4 Seasons and love are abundant in you

Sometimes it gets heated we snuggle we’re cold
Energy depleted we struggle on hold
And sometimes we greet it with smothered intent
Still how we treat it no
Other was meant
No further I went than my reasons led to
So my four seasons in life are …

…Resoundingly you

If Words Could Heal

12 Saturday Nov 2011

Tags

Healing, Health, Life, Poetry, Religion and Spirituality, Tony Haynes, Walt Whitman, Word

If words could heal
For the record would they?

Words appeal but could they heal us? Could they?
Our words can offer
Remedies when written
Divine prophetic healing
Softly spoken

Curse or bless?
Our sentence did or didn’t
Un-break a heart that had been badly broken?
Love resides in words that set the soul at ease
Diseases can be healed through words like these

How I love you – how I need you now
Every day I think of you as a cherished friend
And I pray that you’ll be healed somehow
Let’s speak it into existence…

…Let the healing begin
