W as it the way I
H eld you?
I t had to be
T he way I pulled you
N ext to me
E xpectedly …
Y ou melted

H eaven felt it
O ur worlds connected
U nited, combined & resurrected
S uddenly
T here was an angel in my life
O ne I could find myself forever kissing
N ow the only question left for me to ask is …

… Does heaven know you’re missing?

Intelligent Life

10 Friday Feb 2012

Somewhere there is intelligent life
Undaunted by the daunting
Passionate, a perceptive
Experienced type
Really wanting what I’m wanting

Did I go there & why? I’m astounded
Until this very second I had been dumbfounded
Prepared to sail contaminated water
Earth prevailed, it moved
Removed & I got smarter

You unleashed my Intimate Qualities
Orchestrating through your genius, a bird’s eye view
Ultimately lifting my spirits…

…While raising my I.Q.

“Change Your Train of Thought”

30 Monday Jan 2012

Decide to change your train of thought
Out of what is ordinarily Influential on a one-track-mind

It has kept you chugging down a line
Nine times out of nine
Contrarily conceived
Ride an out-of-the-box car
Emotionally loco-motive and not necessarily naive
Decide to change your train of thought
It is you – you are the conductor
But it is primarily believed
Life & death have made you a passenger in an
Environment that derails you from engine to caboose

To re-train how you treat your precious cargo
Here is where you turn you loose
In a perpetual
New perspective primarily perceived
Golden at all stations where higher consciousness is stored
So at the crossroads toward your destination …

… You’ll let body, mind & soul get on board

“What Difference Can I Make?”

15 Sunday Jan 2012

” … All The Difference In The World.”

I‘m just one person, one single solitary soul

Categorized
As the least of your worries
No rush, no hurries

Made out to be a scapegoat
And in my category
Know this, if you know nothing
Else

Always know the story I tell myself

Dating back to way back then, when
I asked the sky, what difference can I make?
Feeling smaller than a snowflake
For I was just one person, one single solitary soul
Energetic, but the
Runt of the litter
E-flat transmitter
No doubt a little eighth note
Convinced I could create hope, I became the
Evidence of one soul in solidarity with changes swirled

… What difference did it make?
All the difference in the world.

“Let Me Tell You This”

Editor’s Note: When my sister passed away after a brief illness last September, I was devastated. Tony Haynes wrote this poem and sent it to me. The acrostic is my sister’s name (Lenora Speller) and the poem is written from her perspective. I’m publishing it because it is beautiful, and it makes me feel better as I continue to deal with this terrible loss. I thought that someone else might benefit from it, too.

L et me tell you this
E verlasting life is bliss
N othing can compare to
O ur days in the air to
R evel in glory with our Lord
And receive a life’s reward

S o let me tell you this
P eacefully I send a kiss
E xtending out my heart to
L ove you though apart through
L ife & afterlife but way up here
E very thing is oh, so clear
R est assured I’m always near …

… And I’ll always hear you
Our special bond it will exist
Now until forever, it is true I tell you this.

Now Dancing with the Angels

“You Are the Four Seasons Of My Life”

18 Sunday Dec 2011

Y
ou are the four seasons
Of my life
Ultimate summer, fall, winter & spring
Reason I look for a glimmer of good
Embodied in what tomorrow may bring

As seasons change the concept is clear
Love goes in cycles while faithfully here
Love blossoms, it withers, sheds light to renew

4 Seasons and love are abundant in you

Sometimes it gets heated we snuggle we’re cold
Energy depleted we struggle on hold
And sometimes we greet it with smothered intent
Still how we treat it no
Other was meant
No further I went than my reasons led to
So my four seasons in life are …

…Resoundingly you

When You Fall In Love With You

03 Saturday Dec 2011

Tags

Facebook, Life, Maya Angelou, News, Poetry, Romance, Twitter, Writing

Falling in love with you
Ain’t always a no-brainer
Love of self is an empty container
Loosely based on a concept called “let it pour”

In this realm you
Notice a cup in need of so much more

Learning to fall in love with you enables you to
Open the handle of courage on your storage bin
Value self acceptance and
Excitedly pour it in

When you fall in love with you
In comes fulfillment to further link it
This is your elixir and it’s like
Heaven when you drink it

You in love with you, brings you
One step closer to the greatest love of all
Understanding God’s love and when you heed that call…

…You don’t catch yourself
You close your eyes & fall

I Could Get Used To This

25 Friday Nov 2011

Tags

Arts, Gardens, God, Life, Literature, Maya Angelou, Poetry, Romance, Tony Haynes

You must have arranged for birds to flutter
Outside my window
Under a crescent moonlight singing their song

Seduced by what I heard, I close my eyes & hum along
Perhaps you asked the sunlight to shine above me
One day to the next to show you love me
I imagine it was you who planted such a
Lush garden amidst the rolling hills
Each day out in the
Distance I picture me running through the daffodils

My perceptive heart is thrilled
Enjoying a moment’s notice from a dove’s eye view…

…I could get used to this
I could get so used to being loved by you

Fit It Into Your Schedule

21 Monday Nov 2011

Tags

F
it it into your schedule
I would love
To feel your love

It has eluded me for some time now
This love

It is beneficial to me emotionally
Nothing would be as comprehensive
Than for me to appear as anything else
Other than mean & offensive

Your love
Offers integrity an added bonus
Under which it thrives
Reaping a harvest indelibly known as…

…Living with love in our lives

So fit me into your schedule
Caress me with
Hands that
Evoke my
Dreams of -
Undying
Luster
Emanating from…

…You going to extremes with your love

Hurricane You

16 Wednesday Nov 2011

Tags

Art, Facebook, hurricane, Life, Love, Maya Angelou, News, Poetry, Romance, Tony Haynes

How can you rush in emphatically?
Usher in change so dramatically
Room for me to breathe is pushed aside
Room for me to leave is shushed, denied
I’m getting flushed in my own inadequacy
Crushed in arrangements uncomfortably
And so my grief has doused true love
No more belief
Espoused through love

You were brief
One thief in the night
Unleashed who can restrain you enough to drain you?

…There’s no complete relief in sight
From hurt & pain due
Caused by hurricane you
